The 2027 Bimini and Freeport ferry calendar is now open

If you have been waiting to plan a Bahamas trip for next year, the wait is over: Balearia Caribbean has opened its ferry calendar through September 2027, and every sailing is already on sale on I Love Ferry. That means you can lock in a Wednesday day trip to Bimini in March, a Spring Break weekend, a summer week in Freeport or a Fourth of July escape today, at the fares published right now.

What is on sale

The two routes that link Florida with the Bahamas are open for booking on all their sailing days:

Route Departure Arrival Sailing days
Fort Lauderdale – Bimini 9:00 AM about 11:00 AM Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with extra days in high season
Bimini – Fort Lauderdale 6:00 or 7:00 PM about 2 hours later Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, plus Monday and Saturday in high season
Fort Lauderdale – Freeport 9:00 AM about 12:00 PM Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, plus some Sundays
Freeport – Fort Lauderdale 6:30 PM (5:30 PM on some dates) about 3 hours later Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, plus some Sundays

All departures leave from Port Everglades, Terminal 21, in Fort Lauderdale. The exact dates of every month are on the timetable of each route page, and the booking widget only lets you pick days with a real sailing, so you cannot book a date that does not exist.

How the 2027 calendar is organised

The pattern is the same one regular travellers already know, with the usual seasonal additions:

  • Low season (September to February): three to four sailings a week to Bimini and three to four to Freeport. Plenty of space, the lowest fares and the calmest terminals.
  • Spring Break (March and early April): extra Bimini sailings on several weeks, because the island fills up with Florida students and families on school holidays.
  • Summer (June to August): additional departures on both routes, including Monday and Saturday returns from Bimini.
  • Holiday weeks: Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year usually get extra dates; we will publish them here as soon as they appear in the calendar.

Fares follow the same logic all year: the cheapest ticket is the Wednesday day trip to Bimini, from $199 per adult; day trips on any other day and to Freeport start at $246; one-way tickets start at $225, and a round trip in Economy Premium at $306. Children aged 3 to 12 pay a reduced fare and infants under 2 travel free. Taxes and port fees are always shown in the search results before you pay.

Why booking early matters on this route

The Jaume II carries up to 600 passengers, but the fare you see is not fixed: promo fares are limited per sailing, and once they are gone the next price level applies. On popular dates the difference between booking in October and booking the week before the trip can be the difference between a $199 and a $246 day trip, or between finding an Economy Premium seat and not. Saturday departures, Wednesday day trips and every Spring Break week are the first to sell out.

Booking early also protects your plans if you travel with a pet (pets must be booked at least 72 hours in advance) or with a group: the search form lets you book up to nine passengers in one reservation, and for larger groups we hold seats on request.

What you can plan today

  • A day trip: the classic Bahamas escape. Sail at 9:00 AM, seven hours in Bimini or six in Freeport, back at Port Everglades in the evening. See the day trip guide.
  • A long weekend: out on Friday or Saturday, back on Sunday or Monday. Perfect for Columbus Day, MLK and Presidents' Day.
  • A week in the Bahamas: any outbound day plus any return day, on the same or different islands. Combine it with a hotel in one booking through our Ferry + Hotel packages.

Before you book: the two things people forget

Passports. Every passenger, including children and same-day travellers, needs a valid passport (US citizens can use a passport card). Birth certificates, photocopies and enhanced driver's licenses are not accepted. If your passport expires in 2027, check the date before you buy a ticket for next summer.

Fare conditions. The cheapest promo fares cannot be changed or cancelled; standard fares allow date changes with a fee; unrestricted fares can be changed for free. The conditions of every fare are shown under the (i) icon in the search results, so pick the one that matches how sure you are about your dates.

Ready to plan 2027? Open the Fort Lauderdale – Bimini or Fort Lauderdale – Freeport page, choose your dates in the calendar and you will see the live price for each sailing.
